Each workshop is a 6-week course focusing on silks and consisting of one 2-hour class per week. The classes meet on a regularly scheduled day and time (e.g., every Friday from 6-8pm). We do our best to ensure that the same instructors are present throughout the workshop. Each class will have 4 students (no more, no less).
The workshops will cover basic silks positions. They will also focus on conditioning while improving the individual student's static trapeze skills. During the first class, we will develop a curriculum specifically tailored to each student's skill level and needs (e.g. increasing core strength, developing better flexibility, learning how to do a lever).
Clothing should be snug fitting and elastic but very comfortable and easy move around in. We suggest long tights, running tights, or dance tights paired with a snug top. No loose-fitting clothing, which is a hindrance on the apparatus, and no shorts, which don't protect your skin.
Reservations, Refunds & Cancellations
Reservations are first-come, first-served. The entire workshop fee must be paid in advance.
If for any reason there are less than 4 students registered for a workshop, TSNY reserves the right to cancel the scheduled workshop.
If TSNY cancels a workshop, registrants will receive a refund. All other reservations are nonrefundable.
The 72-hour cancellation/refund policy for regular classes does not apply to these workshops.
If You Have to Miss a Class...
If you cannot attend a class, and if TSNY is running multiple workshops, you may swap your class spot with a student in another workshop. To facilitate this process, we have set up a Yahoo! group that will allow students to quickly email their fellow students regarding class openings. The Yahoo! group address is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/TSNY_SSW/. Students will be responsible for paying each other back.

What are Silks?
Aerial silks, also known as tissu and fabric, are two long pieces of soft and often stretchy fabric that hang from a single point. Using strength, grace and flexibility, aerial artists climb the pieces of fabric and move into amazing and beautiful poses. Drops and rolls are an exciting and fun part of learning silks.
